In 2009, T.W. Cooper acquired the Roscoe P. Snyder Insurance Agency, an independent agency also representing ERIE and other major insurances companies. The acquisition not only presented an opportunity for Cooper to expand north into Northampton and Carbon counties, but also extended the long-standing business and friend relationship between the Cooper and Snyder agencies, most recently with Roxane M. Snyder, who retired as president of the agency after 30 years.
Alfred E. Snyder, who died in 1956, founded the Snyder Agency in 1940. His son, Roscoe, ran the agency until he died in 1975 along with his wife, Irmgard, who took over in 1975. Roxane, who started working for the agency in 1978, became president in 1992 when her mother retired. The agency has won many awards over the years, including the prestigious ERIE Quality Agent’s Award in 1990 and 2000.
Roxane Snyder says she’s pleased that Cooper is continuing the Snyder tradition. “We share the same philosophy about insurance, especially the importance of serving our customers as effectively as we can,” she says. “We pride ourselves on being able to offer our many customers insurance solutions that protect lives, health and property, especially now in this tough economy.”
